Riad Le Bel Oranger

  : The staff was nice.
  : There is potential in this building, but the riad is not in very good shape. It looks like it needs some renovation work. The walls of the rooms are old but they look as if they are dirty. Bathrooms don't seem very clean. Inside the riad was very cold (which is normal given the architecture of the building, so maybe not suitable for winter visits). The view from the room with external windows was not pretty (some derelict building). The view from the terrace was not pretty either. In the evening, there was smell of weed on the upper floor. Overall, it had more of the vibe of a hostel rather than a riad. But the worst problem was that one of the rooms smelled very bad (like sewer). I am mentioning it here because obvisouly the riad personnel is aware of this problem. They clean the rooms after each guest and we stayed one night, so on the day of our arrival the room was cleaned, the strong sewer smell was ignored by the personnel and the room was still rented out. We arrived in the evening and the riad showed up on booking as fully booked, so we kept the smelly room anyway, as we were going away the following day. However, this was a big disappointment, as I had a guest with me for whom I had rented the smelly room, a guest visiting for the first time Morocco and for which I had planned a special "riad experience" in Marrakesh. Overall, this accommodation looks much better in th pictures than it is in reality and next time we will choose others which we know offer a better experience at the same price.
